What would it cost on average to replace an exhaust manifold for a 99 Jeep Wrangler?

A new part in roughly $362.00. How much would labor cost?

  • Le porc de Mecque:

A normal exhaust manifold for the 99 Jeep will cost $ 125 plus $ 200 for labor.

    4.0Liter? around 250.00 labor

  • Joshua B:

If you go to Jeep…$85 hour and the job will take 4 hours.

The manifold can be found cheaper {www.quadratec.com} for around $250 or you can spend the $350 and buy a good header. The factory manifolds crack and it’s cost prohibitive to repair them { nice job JEEP } but the labor takes about 2 hours and depending on where you take it will determine cost. Join a 4×4 club and make friends, supply beer and brats and someone will help you fix it in your driveway {I’m one of those suckers myself but I love brats} just don’t take advantage of these people and start learning how to do your own repairs. If you have a local collage or even some high schools still have auto courses you can possibly get it done there very cheap.

you can get a “rugged ridge” header from quadratec for about $200.
it takes about 3 to 4 hours to replace.
    just replaced mine this year.
if you replace it with a manufacturers manifold you will have to replace it again in a couple of years. they have a tendency to crack.

I had a cracked manifold on my old 98 TJ. It cost about $500 to have a local, honest mechanic replace it with a factory-original new one.

How many miles are on the Jeep? The exhaust system has a crazy-long warranty, like 10 years/100k miles or something like that. Check with a dealership first, it might just be covered.

Regarding Jeep/Mopar replacement exhaust manifolds: The exhaust manifold on older TJ’s, as well as YJ’s (square headlight Wranglers) with a 4.0L engine is prone to cracking, as others have said. However, a few years ago, Jeep redesigned their factory manifold with a bellows in it to alleviate the cracking issues. You can argue for or against an aftermarket manifold, but don’t rule out a Mopar replacement unit.
