All tires have a tread-wear rating..so do some research on that. Are you really planning on snow and mud travel? Snow and mud tires are louder on the road…and tend to be softer and tend to wear sooner than road tires. If you are buying 4 new ones…you are lucky if you can get away with a $500 bill. You don’t just pay for the tire..you have mount and balance etc charge. If you are looking for just one..you can call around for a used tire if you hurting for cash.

I have a TJ wrangler with the works, and if I was you I would look hard at deciding tires. Quality and price… Personally I like the superswamper IROK. But these are expensive!
If your checkbook is small, like mine was when I first bought my jeep as the payments were 400, put some wild country RVTs on it. You will be very happy with the cost and the performance! Good luck, and get a pair of American Racing rimes to go with it.
For an all around good tire you can’t beat the BF Goodrich KO. Check them out and talk to someone in your area that has a set. I have had mine for about a year and think they are the best tire for all around use. I have had them off road and on long trips and am very impressed. They grip well in all types of weather and are not too noisy on the highway.
The BFG Mud Terrain and All Terrains are long lasting tires with good performance. I have 35k miles on my ATs and they are still at 11/32nds.
Some of the other tires wear quickly so you need to determine what your situation is: Cheap tires now and not worried 2 year down the line, or Good tires that will last. If your thinking of increasing size with a lift later, than go cheap and wear them out. If you don’t want to spend 600 or 700 bucks in a couple years and you will stay the same size, go with quality. One other thing, even if you want to upgrade in a couple years, BFG Mud Terrains are always a hot seller in the used tire market.
i would say anywhere between 500 to 1200 bucks. it depends what brand you are going with. if you dont want to spend a lot i would look at Maxxis Buckshots. they are a good tire and for a m/t they wear decent
I found some 33×12.5×15 Aurora 02 muds at an independent tire dealer. $90 each, mounted and balanced. They have the same lug pattern as the BFG muds that were going for $145 a pop. I’d suggest shopping around. I’ve seen BFG A/Ts (31×9.5×15) as low as $100 each, which are OK in the mud and very good on the road. I have the Auroras on my YJ and the BFG A/Ts on my XJ.
Unless you like sliding all over the hills when their muddy or getting stuck on muddy trails i’d forget the BFG’s ,,, Their way overpriced for one and they fill up with mud and act like your on ice …. Go for a mud terrain that actually works in the mud…. Hancook Dynapro MT’s are fairly new to the market and are great in sand snow and mud and you won’t have to empty your bank acct . for them… Super swampers are awesome but your gas mileage will suffer if you do a lot of highway in it … unless you don’t care like everyone in my house …. We have 5 Jeeps here and all have Great MT’s on all of them…. BFG’s are good for the street or a little offroading with no mud around … On a real trail you’ll need a winch with these tires …. Good luck & happy Jeepin

B.F.Goodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM … best overall tire at a fair price.
Kumho Road Venture M/T is another quality tire and a great price!
